Thomas Chambers’ Networks, Labour and Migration among Indian Muslim Artisans is an intimate ethnographic account of the everyday lives of the Saharanpur woodworkers, their experiences of friendship, apprenticeship, migration, exploitation and work, all anchored in marginalisation. His narrative particularly focuses on the intersectionality of space and subjectivity. For this, he explores marginalisation in conjunction with migration. The author locates the percolation of neoliberal capitalism within the mohalla networks of Sharanpur. The emerging subjectivities experienced by the woodworking artisans are interpreted through the margins of invisible borders, ghettoisation and stigmatisation
