Abstract

Many studies have found positive associations between religiosity and well-being. This study analyses the influence of religiosity on the well-being of Hindu people in Bali, Indonesia. Majority of the population in Bali are Hindu. Practicing their religion and observing traditional customs are important aspects of their daily lives. Data from the study shows that age is an important factor in determining religious and social expenditure and the level of perceived happiness. The study suggests that enlightenment and flexibility in the application of religious and customary rules is needed to preserve the essence of practice which otherwise can become a burden.
